Would Fabolous and Jadakiss be relevant on Def Jam without commercial singles?
I think we all know these days the Labels don't care about skills anymore they just worried about hit records.
So with that being said do you think Fabo and Kiss would see the light of day on Def Jam if they didn't have any commercial singles or would they be treated like Redman and Method man.
I feel like Jeezy is the only one right now on Def Jam that still has success without putting out commercial singles.

IDK, Jeezy has had a couple of borderline commercial singles like "Vacation" but he manages to do most of his commercial music by was of guest appearances imo.

When I say commercial I mean more like the songs for the ladies in the clubs....
Jeezy does that when he features on other ppls singles but he
don't ever put any of the tracks he do for the females out as singles.
Here is Fabolous track record for Commercial singles
Make Me Better feat Neyo
Baby Don't Go
Throw It In The Bag
Everything, Everyday, Everywhere
Those are hits.....Jeezy don't make songs like that. His singles don't compare commercially to Fabolous, Jadakiss, and Rick Ross as far as popularity and radio play but hes still relevant and one the most successful without any singles with Khalid on the record, T-Pain Auto tuning, or Ne-yo singing back up.
The closest he came to that was with Go Getta but they came out with that single after The Inspiration did its numbers.
Same with Soul Survivor.

Relevant today is different. Def Jam got a roster full of artist that's still selling records and debuting high on the Billboard charts.
Its not a lot of other labels that got it like that right now.
I'm not a fan of Def Jam and the music they putting out now compared to what they was doing in the 90s.....I still chose Interscope first back then.
But as far as being Relevant Def Jam is very relevant, half of the artist you see and hear with successful selling albums and singles are coming from Def Jam from R&B to Rap.

This is the point I was making. He manages to gain commercial support from women by doing songs like never, ever w/ciara and love in this club w/usher. It's smart if you think about cause he does commercial songs, they just are for his album. He keeps his core audience happy and still gets the females on board.

Nice Post Clayton, I actually never looked at it like that. That's def a smart move.
But let me ask this....do you think Fabolous would have the same success if he followed that method also?

If Jeezy can do it I don't see why Fab couldn't.
