Just Blaze is a top 5 GOAT hip-hop producer - agree or disagree?

First off, Just Blaze is my favorite producer so I might be biased, but look at the tracks he made:
- He just made a handful of bad beats
- His beats rarely sound alike (Unlike Timbos, Premos and sometimes Dres for example)
- He made hit singles (important aspect of producing imo)
- He has a fair amount of classic songs
- He is versatile, he can make dark beats and bangers as well

look at that list he posted. Dont get me wrong, I think Just makes fire...but a good amount of people I listed have among the best portfolios in music. And they get EXTRA props from me because each one of them produced a CLASSIC album by themselves. RZA did it, Premo did it, Kanye did it, DJ Quik did it, Prince Paul did it, Pete Rock as well and some others...so you cant give the man THAT much props yet...and besides, he hasnt been pumping out as much material as he did in the past...Him and Kanye at one point was on the same level...Kanye has been took off since then...

And don't tell me that RZA and DJ Quik made more hits than Just Blaze, I give you Kanye, The Neptunes, Timbo and Dre, but ALL of the Neptunes beats sound alike too, as does a lot of stuff from Dre and Timbo.
That's where I'm getting at, if you look at the complete package, Just is up there.

But I agree with him having no classic album all by himself, he needs to do that. Let's hope that Saigon turns out dope, but I doubt that it will see the light of day.

its not about hits because a lot of that is the rappers doing...if the hooks and everything else sucks, what do you have? its just a hot beat, not a hit record...

I see where you comin from. But that was exactly where I was getting at: Just has longevity, he hasn't been in the game as long as Dre or RZA, but he just had a #1 hit last year, so he still has it. And a big part of a #1 hit is the beat, not everything, but producers that consistently make hits have to do something right, don't you agree? So that HAS to be a factor if you talk about top 5. Just like album sales HAVE to be factored in if we talk about top 5 rappers. They are not as important as other aspects, but they play a role.

Anyway, I see the problem that Just has not produced an entire (classic) album to date and that's a major flaw in his resume. But he has produced on classic albums and he has produced many classic songs, if the albums they were on sucked it's not his, but the rappers fault.

And I'd still take Just over RZA any day, but that's not the topic here. But I agree, as long as he has not produced an entire album, top 5 should be hard for him.
