I was born in 1990 and I think the music being released this decade is trash, id take 91-98 rap any day over the stuff being released. I still check out artists from back than more than I do now to see if I missed anything good

So do you think the majority of music released during your youth has been bad?

I liked it up until like 2005, but now I cant listen to most of the shit I listened to back than, that was the year I started getting more into rap instead of being a casual listener

Yea you really gotta dive deeper into hip hop. A lot of the fans are fickle and don't know about hip hop. Just what they're being forced fed by teh radio, tv, and even now the internet.

Re: Best Year in Hip Hop: 93, 94, 95, or 96?
Powerful thread
I say 93 with the quickness cuz the year when Onyx dropped I became a different kind of rap fan....I was in the 3rd grade and before Onyx all I listened to was Kris Kross......So 93 all day.
But yo what about 98?
DMX, Camron, Canibus, Noreaga, Big Pun = Classic Roster that came out that year.
The theme song of that year was 4321 by LL Cool J
Remember the cover to that Source Magazine....
with X, Canibus, Big Pun, Cam'ron, Method Man and I think Jay Z was on that cover.

Thats it Homie, That was the year. X dropped two hit albums in that year, Jay dropped his first all around known album in that year, Lauren Hill showed she could hold her own and Most Def and Talib broke from underground with Blackstar, Big Pun showed the world he was 4real with Capital Punishment, Cam'ron showed he was going be around for awhile with Confessions Of Fire (D.R.U.G.S)
Man that was my year. I'm going to put a mixtape cd together on the strength of this list. Thanks homie.

Out of the 4 choices, I'd go with 1996. But I personally think 1998 was the best.....it was the most balanced year we ever had.

I could vote... but I was young as hell and didn't pay much attention to hip hop then. 98-03 had more impact on my life
